Term Three - Week 10
Our Vision and Mission
Vision Statement
With Jesus Christ as their role model, all children can and will achieve.
Mission Statement
Inspired by Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop and in partnership with parents, our Parish and the wider community, we aim to impart a holistic education on all children in our school. We endeavour to live by the values of our school motto.
Learning, Understanding and Peace.
St Joseph’s is distinguished by a great sense of belonging, where each person is valued and where learning is enjoyable.
Prayer of the day

Ss Cosmas and Damian
Haggai 1:15 – 2:9. Hope in God, I will praise him, my saviour and my God – Ps 42(43):1-4. Luke 9:18-22.
Do we truly believe?
When we are reading the Gospel, it is easy for us to assume that we would act the same as Peter and recognise Jesus as the Messiah and Son of the living God. Unlike the disciples, we have been told who Jesus is for thousands of years. Yet how confident are we in recognising Jesus in modern society today? Is he a kind prophet? A benevolent hero from a long-ago fairytale?
Do we truly believe that we will see Jesus when we die? If we truly knew this, our whole lives would change. We would go about our day with joy, accepting suffering with a smile, and never fearing death. Let us pray to Jesus, asking him to strengthen our faith so that we can believe, even if we can’t see. He can only heal us if we believe that he can.

SCHOOL NEWS
A Look into Our Year 3 Climate Zones Project
Over the past 10 weeks, our Year 3 students embarked on an exciting project to explore the world's climate zones. The project was designed to help them develop skills as researchers, writers, and presenters.
Here’s a brief overview of what they accomplished:
Research Phase (Weeks 1–6): Each student chose a climate zone to investigate, learning to identify different climate zones, locate countries within their chosen zone, and describe the weather, seasons, plants, and animals found there. They also compared their climate zone with another.
Creative Presentation Phase (Weeks 7–9): Students spent time organizing and preparing their findings for a final presentation. This involved creating a diorama, poster, digital presentation or book.
Presentation Day (Week 10): Students presented their projects to their classmates, sharing what they had learned in a fun and creative way.
We are incredibly proud of the students' hard work and the creativity they demonstrated in their final projects.

Year 4
This term, Year 4 students have been busy researching and creating stunning dioramas as part of their homework project on national parks. They explored key questions such as what their chosen park is known for, how the land is managed and protected, and how visitors enjoy and experience the area. Their creativity and effort are clear in each diorama, showcasing a thoughtful blend of research and imagination. Well done, Year 4!

Stage 3 Special Interest Projects
Curiosity and creativity have been on full display in Year 5 and 6 this term. Our students have worked hard on their Special Interest Projects, choosing topics they are passionate about and presenting their research in exciting and original ways.
The projects included dioramas, 3D models, Google Slides, PowerPoint presentations, and even a bike taken apart and rebuilt!
Students explored a wide variety of interests, covering everything from fishing and the history of the rugby ball to horses, Jack Russells, World War II, and dinosaurs, as well as cattle stations, soccer, and the story of an aspiring Olympic gymnast.
I am very proud of the hard work, creativity, and enthusiasm the students put into their projects. It was wonderful to see them share their knowledge and talents with their peers.

Term 3, Week 10 - Principal Awards

Student of the Week

FROM THE REC
Year 5/6 Leaders
This term, our Year 5 and 6 student leaders have been assisting Miss Woodhouse in preparing and leading whole-school prayer. During RE lessons, the students have collaborated in small groups to thoughtfully write prayers on themes they feel are important, such as honesty, creation, faith, and kindness. This week, they crafted a beautiful prayer for protection over the school holidays.
Each prayer has been a meaningful experience, including opportunities for reflection through song and shared thoughts. Feedback from Miss Williamson is that the students are thoroughly enjoying this active role in their faith journey. We're excited to continue this initiative into Term 4, with many of our older students eager to participate.
Attached is the Prayer for the Holidays, prepared by Adelyn, Guy, and Noah, which was prayed on Monday morning.
Socktober
What is Socktober?
Socktober for Mission Month cultivates the passion of students to rise up, engage their local community, and take action against poverty through the world game of soccer. It provides young people in Australia with the opportunity to lead in mission, encouraging them to think not only of what they will do to help, but why they will do it.
In 2025, Socktober is supporting ZAMBIA!
Zambia, a country of rich culture, stunning landscapes, and vibrant communities, lies in the heart of southern Africa. Zambia is a land of beauty and resilience. Today, one of the most urgent issues is the severe hunger crisis that threatens the wellbeing of millions.
Please follow the link to find out more about Socktober:
How is St Joseph’s getting involved in Socktober?
During Week 2 of Term 4, St. Joseph’s will be supporting Socktober for Catholic Mission. Throughout the week, we will hold a whole-school prayer service or liturgy to explore the purpose of Socktober and how our fundraising efforts will directly support those in need.
In our RE lessons, students will complete activities designed to help them understand social justice and mission, with a focus on opportunity, wellbeing, creation, peace, and service.
The week will conclude with a Soccer Afternoon, featuring various soccer activities and a Teacher-Student Soccer Shootout. Students will be able to purchase tickets for a chance to be drawn as one of the lucky students to take a shot at a goal. All proceeds will be donated directly to the Catholic Mission.
Please keep an eye out for more information on the soccer afternoon and ticket purchases.
