Term Three - Week 9
Our Vision and Mission
Vision Statement
With Jesus Christ as their role model, all children can and will achieve.
Mission Statement
Inspired by Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop and in partnership with parents, our Parish and the wider community, we aim to impart a holistic education on all children in our school. We endeavour to live by the values of our school motto.
Learning, Understanding and Peace.
St Joseph’s is distinguished by a great sense of belonging, where each person is valued and where learning is enjoyable.
Prayer of the day

St Januarius
1 Timothy 6:2-12. Happy the poor in spirit; the kingdom of heaven is theirs! – Ps 48(49):6-10, 17-20. Luke 8:1-3.
Invited to live our faith openly and creatively
How often have we heard those words? ‘The love of money is the root of all evils?’ Scripture doesn’t say that money itself is the problem, but the love of money. Perhaps we have met people whose prosperity allows them to serve others. There are some of them in today’s Gospel, which introduces several women who travelled with Jesus and who seem to share the same status as ‘the twelve’.
Luke says that they provided for the whole community ‘out of their own resources’. We’d love to know who these people were and how they managed to be so independent. Life on the road was surely uncomfortable, but following Jesus was clearly more important than the ‘self-conceit’ described in the Letter to Timothy. ‘We brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it.’ That is not bad news. It is an invitation to live our faith with freedom and creativity.

Kindergarten
In our Resilience Project lesson this week, Kindergarten learned that "Listening, Supporting and Encouraging" are important skills in showing empathy to others. We listened to a beautiful story called "The Rabbit who Listened" by Cori Doerrfeld which helped us to identify how we can recognise feelings in others and what we can do to help. Then we put these skills into action by working together to build a bridge that would hold our lego characters with only a strip of cardboard and six blocks. The students had to listen to, support and encourage each other to be a successful team. They had a great time working together

Mr French
Mr French will continue to be on sick leave next week as he recovers from pneumonia. We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to having him back next term.
Mufti Day
Next Friday is the last day of school and will be a mufti day! Students are encouraged to wear casual clothes instead of their uniforms, however please ensure your child/children are wearing appropriate footwear. Please remember to bring a gold coin donation to raise money for the Catholic Mission.

FROM THE REC
Grandparents Day
A big thank you to all the wonderful grandparents who joined us for Grandparents Day! It was such a joy to share a delightful picnic lunch with the students and celebrate with a beautiful liturgy in the church. Your presence made the day truly special, and we’re grateful for the love and wisdom you bring to our school community. We look forward to many more moments like these!

Socktober
What is Socktober?
Socktober for Mission Month cultivates the passion of students to rise up, engage their local community, and take action against poverty through the world game of soccer. It provides young people in Australia with the opportunity to lead in mission, encouraging them to think not only of what they will do to help, but why they will do it.
In 2025, Socktober is supporting ZAMBIA!
Zambia, a country of rich culture, stunning landscapes, and vibrant communities, lies in the heart of southern Africa. Zambia is a land of beauty and resilience. Today, one of the most urgent issues is the severe hunger crisis that threatens the wellbeing of millions.
Please follow the link to find out more about Socktober:
How is St Joseph’s getting involved in Socktober?
During Week 2 of Term 4, St. Joseph’s will be supporting Socktober for Catholic Mission. Throughout the week, we will hold a whole-school prayer service or liturgy to explore the purpose of Socktober and how our fundraising efforts will directly support those in need.
In our RE lessons, students will complete activities designed to help them understand social justice and mission, with a focus on opportunity, wellbeing, creation, peace, and service.
The week will conclude with a Soccer Afternoon, featuring various soccer activities and a Teacher-Student Soccer Shootout. Students will be able to purchase tickets for a chance to be drawn as one of the lucky students to take a shot at a goal. All proceeds will be donated directly to the Catholic Mission.
Please keep an eye out for more information on the soccer afternoon and ticket purchases.

MOLONG PLAYERS 2025.
St Josephs School, in collaboration with the P&F, will be catering for The Molong
Players on Saturday 25th October. This event is held in the Molong Community
Centre and is a wonderful opportunity for us to be part of a community event. In
return for our support, The Players award a significant donation from the event, with
these funds going towards resources for our school.
Your support is crucial in making this event a success. Volunteering sets a
wonderful example to our children on the importance of giving back.
What’s required:
Donation of your time on the day and evening.
Donation of goods for catering.
We understand everyone has busy schedules; however your help is necessary to
make this work. Whether it's preparing food, serving or helping with cleanup, every
contribution counts. This is a perfect chance to spend time with other parents, carers
and friends of the school AND it is a really fun evening. Lots of laughs have been
had at past events. No catering experience is necessary!
Thank you for your support and commitment.
Please visit the sign up genius link to volunteer your time or donate something off the
list.
